Born in California, Dr. Jake Wertz moved frequently as a child before settling in Illinois just before his junior year of high school. He graduated from Adlai E. Stevenson High School in 2005 and went on to attend Northern Illinois University, where he earned a degree in biology in 2009. While at NIU, he was also a member of the football team, an experience that reinforced his values of hard work, discipline, and teamwork—qualities he now applies to his dental practice.
Driven by a passion for healthcare and helping others, Dr. Wertz pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, graduating in 2014. Since then, he has dedicated his career to providing high-quality dental care, focusing on patient comfort, education, and advanced treatment options. For over a decade, he served the community through the Whiteside County Health Department, where he gained extensive experience treating patients of all ages. In 2021, he stepped into the role of Dental Director, furthering his mission to improve access to exceptional dental care.
Dr. Wertz is deeply committed to staying up to date with the latest advancements in dentistry, continuously expanding his skills to offer the best possible care. He believes in building strong relationships with his patients, ensuring they feel comfortable and confident in their treatment plans. Whether helping someone restore their smile or providing preventive care, his goal is always to make a positive impact on his patients' oral health and overall well-being.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Wertz enjoys spending time with his wife, Chelsea, and their three children, Walker, Harrison, and Addison. Family is at the heart of everything he does, and he loves creating lasting memories with them. Whether watching a game, working on a new woodworking project, or relaxing with a great movie, he embraces every opportunity to enjoy life’s simple moments. His love for sports, craftsmanship, and storytelling fuels his hobbies, giving him a well-rounded balance between work and personal life.
